Jade Khalife, Chairperson

Country: Denmark, Lebanon
Background: MD (2005), MPH (2009), MSc.Epidemiology (2016). Jade is mainly interested in non-communicable diseases and health systems. He is currently the coordinator of a four-year project on hospital performance between Lund University (Sweden), American University of Beirut (Lebanon), and the Lebanese Ministry of Public Health (Joint Health Systems Research Initiative, DFID/MRC/Wellcome Trust/ESRC). He has been involved public health practice and advocacy since 2001.


Paul Yonga, Vice-chairperson

Country: Kenya
Background: Paul is a Consultant Physician in Infectious Diseases and HIV Medicine, as well as an international health specialist based at the Fountain Health Care Hospital in Kenya. He undertook his undergraduate training in Medicine and Surgery (MBChB) at Kampala International University, postgraduate training in Internal Medicine at the Royal College of Physicians of Edinburgh (MRCP) with additional training in Infectious Diseases and HIV Medicine at the British Columbia Center for Excellence in HIV/AIDS in Vancouver, Canada, and an MPH in International Health from the Institute of Tropical Medicine in Antwerp, Belgium. He has also been trained in high resolution anoscopy (HRA) under the International Anal Neoplasia Society (IANS) at the Academic Medical Center, University of Amsterdam, the Netherlands, and is currently pioneering the procedure in East and Central Africa.
His main interests are in mentorship of younger doctors in the field of global health and research at a much larger scale, and sees WYDO in addition to other organizations as the perfect vehicle to reach as many doctors as well as to share the skills he has been taught and acquired over the years to grow the next group of global health professionals.


Greta Muradyan, Secretary General and Board member on Projects and Activities

Country: Armenia
Background: Greta has graduated from Yerevan State Medical University after Mkh. Heratsi in 2010 holding Master’s degree in General Medicine. As a medical student, she was very active and was involved in the International Federation of Medical Students Associations (IFMSA). She is currently working as an endocrinologist at Armenian-American Wellness Center (AAWC). Greta is a physician specialized in endocrinology and metabolic disorders. She is a purposeful and hard-working person who is involved in clinical work, as well as in research in the field of diabetes, metabolic and thyroid disorders and leads “Diabetes school” for diabetes patients at AAWC. Greta is also involved in several organizations including ETA, EASD, YMCA, and the Armenian Association of Young Doctors (AAYD).


Sophie Gubbels, Treasurer and Board member on Partnerships

Country: Denmark, the Netherlands
Background: As a medical student Sophie was active in the International Federation of Medical Students Associations (IFMSA), as Local Public Health Officer, National Public Health Officer, founder of the magazine Global Medicine and Liaison Officer to the World Health Organization (WHO). She did an internship in the Health Action in Crisis department of WHO and a research project on intestinal parasites in Malawi.
Sophie has a Master in Biomedical Sciences (2004) and medical degree (2006) from Leiden University, the Netherlands. She completed the European Programme on Intervention Epidemiology Training (EPIET) from the European Center for Disease Control and Prevention in 2011. For her EPIET training she was based at the Statens Serum Institut in Copenhagen, Denmark. From 2011-2015 Sophie was project leader for the development of the Danish Hospital-Acquired Infections Database (HAIBA) at the Statens Serum Institut. In 2017, she obtained her PhD degree in Epidemiology from the University of Copenhagen on the development of HAIBA. She is currently leading a multidisciplinary team for national surveillance of hospital-acquired infections in Denmark, consisting of specialists in microbiology, epidemiology, infection control and prevention, statistics, it-architecture and programming.


Hatem Alaa, Board member on Communications

Country: Egypt
Background: Hatem graduated from Kasr Al Ainy school of Medicine – Cairo University, obtaining a Bachelor degree in Medicine. He obtained a Professional Postgraduate Diploma in Healthcare & Hospital Management from the American University in Cairo (AUC) with a focus on Human Resources Management. Hatem completed his training in Psychiatry in Cairo University Hospital and obtained his Masters degree in Psychiatry & Addiction Medicine. Hatem’s research focused on working conditions of young doctors and burnout syndrome and its psychiatric correlates among medical residents.
As a medical student, Hatem was actively involved in the International Federation of Medical Students Associations (IFMSA) and served a term as the Developmental Assistant for the Eastern Mediterranean Region and a term as IFMSA-Egypt (National Member Organization of IFMSA) Secretary General.


Prem Reddy, Board member on Projects and Activities

Background: I am a Final year Medical student from India. I obtained a Diploma in Social Work Studies from The Open University,UK. I am actively involved with a Medical NGO named DAHIJ (dahij.org) and serving as Chairperson. Along with that, I am also involved in Indian Medical Association- Student Wing and Serving as State Head of Technical team, AP chapter and Team Member of Research Wing. I also served as Team Member for the Project WYDD 2015. I always loves thinking and chasing my thoughts towards reality.
